Award-winning producer/director Jeff Margolis brings three decades of experience crafting dynamic event television to the task of executive-producing the Screen Actors Guild Awards®. Margolis first took the helm of acting’s most glamorous evening fifteen years ago with the 5th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards®.

Jeff Margolis has shaped more than 200 of the entertainment industry’s biggest events, headlined by its top stars, for which he has received many of the industry’s top honors. Margolis won two Directors Guild of America Awards for directing the Oscars®, has accumulated six Emmy® Award nominations for directing the 1991-1996 Academy Awards telecasts and won Emmys® for directing the 1995 Oscars® and for producing Sammy Davis Jr.’s 60th Anniversary Celebration.

Margolis and Jeff Margolis Productions produced the NBC musical variety series, Fame, the VH1 audition series In Search of the Partridge Family and such memorable special telecasts as The September 11th tribute concert, United We Stand; Motown 45; The Disco Ball…A 30 Year Celebration; 50th Anniversary of the Honeymooners; CBS…50 Years from Television City; The First Family’s Holiday Gift to America: A Tour of the White House; the White House Farewell Celebration, a surprise event for the Clinton Family; President Clinton’s 50th Birthday Celebration at Radio City Music Hall; Quincy Jones…The First 50 Years; An Evening with Bette, Cher, Meryl, Goldie, & Robin; Celebrate the Dream: Fifty Years of Ebony; Julie & Carol Together Again; The Television Academy Hall of Fame; Happy Birthday Hollywood; Special Olympics Opening Ceremonies; ABC Presents a Royal Gala, performance specials for Michael Jackson and Kenny Rogers and a tradition of holiday celebrations including Amy Grant…A Christmas to Remember, six years of Perry Como Christmas specials, A Musical Christmas at Walt Disney World, A Merry Motown Christmas and Holiday Greetings from the Ed Sullivan Show, with Margolis serving as producer and director for most of these television events. Jeff Margolis Productions produced The Miss America Pageant from 1993 to 2000, with Margolis serving as producer and director. From 1993 to 1998, Margolis produced and directed A Gala for the President at Ford’s Theater.

As a collaborator, Jeff Margolis has produced and/or directed such major specials as To Life! America Celebrates Israel‘s 50th, Frank Sinatra’s 75th Birthday Celebration, Happy Birthday Elizabeth Taylor – A Celebration of Life, Night of 100 Stars and Welcome Home America. Margolis’ prolific directing career includes twenty American Music Awards; eight Oscar®; seven Screen Actors Guild Awards® and three Emmy® telecasts; the feature film Richard Pryor Live in Concert; numerous television specials showcasing such stars as David Copperfield, Steve Martin, Dolly Parton and Ringo Starr, just to name a few; and series including The Bill Cosby Show and Tony Orlando & Dawn.

For the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Jeff Margolis Productions compiled Oscar’s® Greatest Moments, two outstanding hours of highlights from 21 Academy Awards® telecasts, released on home video.

Margolis formed Jeff Margolis Productions in 1976 to produce and package television programs. Before beginning work on this year’s SAG Awards®, Margolis directed his 22nd American Music Awards for ABC as well as the 40th Anniversary of the Annual Academy of Country Music Awards special and his second consecutive Academy of Country Music Awards, both for CBS. For nine consecutive years Margolis executive-produced the Los Angeles Music Center‘s Spotlight Awards to honor young performing artists. He executive-produced the 46th Annual Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration, a six-hour multi-cultural presentation of music and dance telecast live on KCET. For the Los Angeles Music Center, Margolis has served on the Spotlight Awards Board of Directors since 2003.
